In the wake of the savage attack by Hamas infiltrators on innocent Israeli citizens on October 6th on Israeli soil, many progressives are in a quandary. Especially progressives of Jewish heritage.
Having spent decades characterizing politicians who support strong border security and the vetting of migrants as xenophobes and racists, they now feel compelled to denounce the Hamas invaders and lament the failure of Israeli intelligence and military agencies to anticipate and block the invasion. Their dilemma is clear. How can they favour impervious borders for one nation state and porous borders for others at the same time? The problem seems insuperable.
But there is a solution. They can make a stand and decide to be consistent. Instead of promoting secure borders and sovereignty for Israel and open borders for the rest of us, they can call for open borders for everybody everywhere. Including Israel.
So what is stopping them?
Let me speak to Jewish progressives directly:
Now is the time to step up and show us that we were wrong about you. Now is the time to show us that your goal is not to destroy our national sovereignty and diversify our culture out of existence. Now is the time to assure us that your support for mass immigration and “cultural diversity” does not represent an agenda to “divide to survive” by swinging a wrecking ball at ethnic homogeneity.
How can you do that? Simple. Do this:
